The Coffee Beans & Greens Story
Coffee Beans and Greens started out as an idea to offer the best cup of coffee made with the most premium ingredients. We sourced our organic coffee high in the mountains of northern Thailand near an extinct volcano with soil rich in nutrients and minerals. Shade grown under a variety of tropical fruit trees such as pomelo and rambutan, our 100% Arabica beans are hand picked, washed, dried, and hand sorted to ensure the highest quality. They are then fresh roasted to perfection to ensure the greatest flavor and maximum health benefits. By using organic milk, we offer a richer tasting coffee with the added bonus of being better for you.
We then chose fruits and vegetables based on their superior taste and seasonal availability to craft juices and smoothies that are not only delicious, they are packed with natural goodness. Our baked goods are home made so we can control what goes into the recipes, and more importantly, what does not. Our goal is to offer snacks and drinks that are good for you, good for the environment, and ultimately, just taste great!
Organic products are important to us and used in the menu whenever possible.
What is Organic?
Organic refers to a way that natural products are grown and processed. It uses the ecological system to produce products that are naturally stronger and healthier so they are more resistant to pests and disease.
Organic products don’t use dangerous chemical fertilizers and pesticides; instead, farmers use natural and approved compost materials to nourish the soil and rotate their crops and plant cover crops to help protect them from predators. Any insecticides are made from natural ingredients that are non-toxic.
Organic also means that livestock are fed on their natural diet of hay and pasture. Livestock grown in organic farms are not given growth hormones to artificially make them grow bigger. They are kept healthy by good nutrition and low-stress conditions, thereby eliminating the need for antibiotics.
Why Choose Organic?
Organic products taste better- maybe because your body knows it is good for you!
Emerging research also suggests that some organic foods are more nutritious than conventionally grown varieties. For example, there are higher levels of Omega-3’s in organic milk and higher levels of antioxidants in organic fruits and vegetables.
As the saying goes, "you are what you eat.” If that is true, why would you choose to eat dangerous chemical fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones, and antibiotics commonly found in non-organic produce?
Science has linked pesticides to various forms of cancer so by eating organic you are actually reducing your chance of contracting cancer. By eliminating antibiotics in our food we are lowering the prevalence of common antibiotic-resistant and multi-drug resistant bacteria. Children may especially susceptible to toxins in their food, and a growing body of evidence supports the theory that ingesting these chemicals may be linking to a range of behavioral disorders in children, such as ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity-Disorder.)
By choosing organic, you are choosing to support a more sustainable earth and to create a less toxic environment for all living things.
Organic farming promotes biodiversity and protects the topsoil, as well as reducing the amount of harmful farm pollution from industrial agriculture.
The environment means people too- by choosing organic you are supporting local organic farmers so they can earn fairer prices and continue to offer us healthier food.
